As you can notice, I chose Deadpool as my meme. This character embodies the irony, sarcasm, egocentrism, parody, and humor that are hallmarks of a well-developed modern meme. He never takes anything seriously and always has a joke to fit any situation. It’s hard to choose a specific meme for him because of the vast amount of content he delivers. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not judging this character—I believe that would be one of the biggest mistakes one could make. Instead, I’m developing a connection between this wonderful character and modern digital humor. Recently, Deadpool and Wolverine collaborated in a movie, creating one of the best R-rated films in history. Deadpool and Wolverine is also considered one of the best Marvel movies in the post-Endgame era. In this movie, Deadpool enters the new Marvel universe in a peculiar way, different from how other superheroes in the industry are introduced. As a superhero, he lacks purpose, determination, and seriousness, which makes him feel empty, not knowing how to use his talents positively. However, he manages to interact with key characters from this universe in a unique style, opening the door for him into the Marvel Universe. Spectators relate to Deadpool because of how he deals with bad news and situations with humor, making them seem less bad. He can be annoying to other characters but entertaining for the audience. In our digital and modern society, one can see how people use this type of humor as a way to cope with reality. For some, it may seem insensitive; for others, it’s dumb; and for still others, it’s a way to connect with what’s going on in society. But at the end of the day, this humor provides an important perspective to consider, as it can reflect how people often exaggerate problems more than they actually are.
